LAB Head - Neubauer Asst. Professor Shady Farah
Asst. Prof. Shady Farah from the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering completed his Ph.D. (direct track) in Medicinal Chemistry at HUJI-Faculty of Medicine, Israel under the supervision of Prof. Avi Domb (Currently Israel’s Chief Scientist), and was a 5 years postdoctoral fellow at Chemical Engineering Dept. & Koch Institute at MIT and BCH/Harvard Medical School in the group of Prof. Daniel Anderson/Prof. Robert Langer. His main research interests are in the fields of Medicinal Polymers and Drug Delivery: Advanced functional and biodegradable polymers, smart materials, antimicrobial and shape-memory polymers, biomaterials, hydrogels, bioactive nanoparticles, drugs crystallizations, controlled and localized drug delivery, bioactive surfaces engineering, personalized medicine and targeted delivery, cells encapsulation and living therapeutics ("Drug Factories"), tissue engineering polymers and 3D printing. His work holds over 96,000 reads, and 3300 citations with an h-index of 20 (i10-index stands on 28). Also, he won several prestigious awards and recognitions, among them: Global MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35 competition (100-list, 2021). Neubauer Asst Prof Award (2019). MAOF Fellowship for Outstanding Young Researchers (2019). Excellence Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016-2018). Excellence Doctoral Fellowship (2012-2014).
